This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing guests at PostNet's Annual THRIVE Conference, held in Downtown Denver. AK PHOTO provided a 12' backdrop photowall for photographing guests, and a complete on-site print solution, to provide guests with a keepsake photo and photo folder.
If you were a guest of the 2015 THRIVE Conference, you may order additional prints online at the link below:

As the holidays are now in full swing, many of us begin preparing Christmas cards and various forms of well wishes to share with those who've meant the most to us over the years. To commemorate the festive season, D.L. Adams Associates, the premier acoustical, theatrical, noise control, information technology and audio visual systems design and engineering firm in Denver, sends out an annual cookbook to friends and clients. The unique aspect of this cookbook is that it is comprised of recipes that come directly from its owner's and employees' kitchens. Read More
Being a long time fan of American Flyers, the 1985 Kevin Costner film that focused on a Colorado bicycle race called the Hell of the West (which in reality was the Coors Classic) - I was thrilled when it was announced that professional stage racing would return to Colorado this summer after such a long absence. I was even more excited when I discovered that the final stage would feature a few laps around Civic Center Park in downtown Denver - which is just a few blocks away from where I live! Talk about an amazing opportunity for taking some action sports and panning photography shots - while getting to see American Levi Leipheimer win the event to boot! Read More
Since the Denver Post featured my Shane Turpin photo on their homepage, I've been getting a lot of requests for a high resolution version of the image that was published. In response to these email requests, I've decided to offer a free 1920x1280 wallpaper of the Shane Turpin image shown above.

Shooting the Popchips VIP Pop n Pose Photobooth at the Westword Music Showcase this year was a lot of fun. As an event photographer, how can I complain about good music, good times, and good people diving in front of my camera; hamming it up with the goofiest poses and expressions possible?! (Granted, some of them may have been a little inebriated). :) While shooting in the mid-day sun was a bit of a challenge, my two portable strobes (used with reflective umbrellas) were more than enough to overpower the harsh sunlight. Samples of the shots passed on to my client (Popchips) are below.
The public gallery is available here for anyone wanting to see their photos from the event. Read More
Photography for model portfolios can be hit or miss, depending on the experience of the model and the look an agent is going for; but sometimes you just get lucky. I would definitely say I got lucky shooting Kirsten last week. We started out in the studio, shooting a variety of poses on the white seemless background. As the session moved into the second hour, I suggested venturing outside. I was a little concerned the cold weather would scare her off, but Kirsten never hesitated - we ran right out to work in the falling snow! Cloudy days can provide some of the best environments for shooting, due to the diffuse/uniform light provided by an overcast... Read More
When Michael Mitchell contacted me asking about corporate headshots, I wasn't really sure what he was looking for. When you hear the phrase "corporate headshots" I think many people immediately envision images with dark backgrounds, three-piece suits, neck ties, and serious/stern poses. While there's certainly nothing wrong with those types of photos, I prefer a little more emotion in my portrait work. So after hearing the concepts Michael had for new promotional literature he was planning for his hair salon (Salon 17), it became clear that we were on the same page with the goals for his shoot. These were going to be bright, energetic shots, full of expression, and I think that's exactly what we got.
