As a Canon guy, I've been anxiously hanging on my seat in anticipation of today's scheduled "important global announcement" from Canon, and they certainly met my expectations. They dropped their new flagship camera body into the pro DSLR market - and it looks like it won't disappoint. The new EOS, called the 1DX, will sport an 18.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, a built in ethernet port for faster dumping of images (and from how I read it - live tethered video recording), two DIGIC 5 processors, with one DIGIC 4 processor dedicated solely to AF control, and expanded ISOs up to 204,800. However, those new ISOs are strictly for law enforcement use (I promise I'll never use them! :P ). I wish I could get my mitts on one of these bad boys to try her out - if only for a few minutes!!
You can see the official Press Release at Canon Rumors and get some more detail over at Digital Camera Info. The official 1DX product page is now up on Canon's Website. Estimated retail price of $6,800, with a delivery date of March 2012.
